Why I Started Acting Business Boot Camp

From Actress to Casting Director to Coach: My Journey to Helping Actors Succeed

Like many actors, I started my journey filled with passion and ambition, but with little understanding of how to navigate the business side of the industry. I trained hard, landed roles, and joined SAG-AFTRA, but I quickly realized that talent alone wasn’t enough. The entertainment industry operates by its own set of rules—rules that most actors aren’t taught in acting school.

After years of working both in front of and behind the camera as a Casting Director, I had a rare opportunity to see things from the other side. I learned exactly what casting directors and agents are looking for—and just as importantly, what holds actors back from booking work.

I saw talented actors making the same mistakes over and over:

  • Sending materials that didn’t stand out.

  • Reaching out to agents the wrong way.

  • Lacking confidence in the audition room.

  • Not treating acting like a business.

And that’s when I realized: Actors don’t need more talent—they need a road map.

The Birth of Acting Business Boot Camp

I created Acting Business Boot Camp to bridge the gap between talent and business strategy. My mission is simple: to help actors take control of their careers with confidence, industry knowledge, and a proven plan.

Through my programs, I teach actors how to:

  • Build confidence & stop second-guessing their career moves.

  • Create industry-ready materials that get noticed.

  • Understand exactly what casting directors & agents want.

  • Master the mindset & business strategies that lead to success.

For years, I’ve helped actors land agents, book roles, and build thriving careers—without the guesswork. I know firsthand how confusing and overwhelming this business can feel, but I also know that with the right strategy, success is within reach.

My Industry Experience

I graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with a BA Hons Degree in Acting and hold an Associates Degree from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. My coaching training includes a decade of mentorship with Arlene Rosenberg (author of Say It, See It, Be It) and coaching certification from iPEC (Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching).

I am a fully vested SAG-AFTRA voice-over actress with well over a thousand jobs to my name. My acting credits include recurring roles on NBC’s DEADLINE (Dick Wolf), ABC’s ALL MY CHILDREN, and lead roles at the ACTORS THEATER OF LOUISVILLE’s Humana Festival and the CINCINNATI PLAYHOUSE IN THE PARK. I also played Oliver Platt’s girlfriend in the cult hit FUNNY BONES, starring the late Jerry Lewis.

In casting, I interned with top Casting Director Roger Mussenden (X-Men movies) and headed up the commercial department of one of NYC’s busiest Talent Management Companies for three years. In 2013, my husband, Jason Harris, and I co-founded THE LOOPING DIVISION, a successful ADR Loop Group and Voice Casting Company. We’ve cast voices for projects like Denis Villeneuve's DUNE, Apple’s DOPE THIEF, FOR ALL MANKIND and DICKINSON, Showtime’s YELLOWJACKETS, YOUR HONOR & THE AFFAIR, Peacock's BEL AIR & BUPKIS, Hulu's DYING FOR SEX, LIFE & BETH, Starz' GASLIT, Comedy Central's AWKWAFINA IS NORA FROM QUEENS among many others.

We’ve also worked with directors such as Oliver Stone, Jay Roach, Phillip Noyce, Joel Edgerton, Jim Jarmusch, and Paul Weitz.

A Note From Peter

To my clients, I’m more than a coach. Endearingly, they call me “Mama Bear.”

I fiercely support the careers of my Baby Bears, and my challenge to them is always the same: Want success for yourself as much as I want it for you.
