Taught over Zoom

If you’re an actor looking to break into Film/TV, or deepen your on-camera work without getting in your own head about your choices and continuing to ENJOY doing what you love, then you already know that finding the perfect coach is everything.

As auditions have moved over to self-tapes and Zoom auditions (that’s here to stay) actors know how important it is to get their tape to stand apart. How do we get CD’s to watch our tape out of hundreds...or thousands? You’ve trained, you researched, how do you get to the callback...and how do stay sane in the process ?

By these 4 Weeks,

you will have…

  • At minimum, a trio of on camera scenes that highlight YOU

Katie assigns scenes specifically for each student, and as an active member of the industry she has her finger on the pulse of what’s shooting
  • An understanding of your “crutches” that are holding you back from an engaged performance

We all need an outside eye to identify how we might be sabotaging our own talent.
  • New tools to better analyze film, episodic, and mini-series scripts

Katie is an expert at script analysis and shares tips and tricks to see things the average actor might not pick up on.
  • A better sense of how the industry views you

Sometimes the sides selected for us surprise us and teach us new things about how we are viewed.
  •  Tools to enhance your self-tapes and catch the viewers attention

Make that little box work for YOU.

Work with Katie!

When I first started working with Katie, I had no experience in film and TV and felt incredibly out of my depth.

Here classes were like playing tennis. To get better, you have to play with people better than you. The level of talent in her class was astounding. I quickly realized that everyone was so brilliant because of Katie. She is like magic.

Since working with her I have booked three feature films and been called back for multiple co-star roles.

I can’t recommend working with Katie enough. She changed by life and career. RUN don’t walk.

- Kat Murphy

My favorite part [is getting] Katie’s expert feedback on fleshing out an authentic character and navigating my way to a seamless audition.

I trust Katie to guide me in the right direction and see things I could never see myself.

I have learned and benefitted so much from watching her work with other actors. She continually helps me hone my audition skills and is always in my corner.

Her class is invaluable to any actor who is auditioning for TV/Film.

Katie is perceptive about each actors' strengths as well as their "crutches," and has a gentle yet intelligent no-nonsense way of coaching.

You can see the adjustments clearly as she works with a fellow actor and feel them for yourself.

She's very versed, and knows what works as far as genre, tone, character, script analysis, pace, et al.

What to Expect

Week 1

Getting to Know You

New students should bring a 1-2 minute contemporary monologue that demonstrates the work they are looking to book.

Returning students will work on scenes from episodics or film assigned 1-3 days before class.

Week 2 - 4

The Work

We will look at how to break down scripts for episodic, streaming platforms, pilots, and network hour and half-hour drama/comedy.

Sides will be sent to each person, specifically addressing type and where they are in the industry. All students work every class.

Sides range from 2-8 pages, and are sent out with 1-3 days of preparation time to mimic the real-life audition process. Students will reach out to their classmates to pick their reader ahead of class.

Students will run through their sides at least twice, with adjustments from Katie. They have the option to record their work.
