“Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do…”
–John Wolfgang van Goethe
I ran across this quote and thought it would make an excellent start to this article as it strongly concurs with my belief that each and every one of us is on this earth for a reason. We are all needed.
The trick that I observe in my private clients, seminar attendees and honestly, in myself, is finding that area where we can be of greatest service. For it is when we are of greatest service that we are closest to the energy that created us and therefore at our happiest; as the Dali Lama says, the purpose of life is “to be happy.”
When we experience fear, it is safe (albeit not comfortable) for us to feel that feeling, however it is imperative not to let that feeling overcome us so that we cannot be of benefit to others. When we allow fear to take over, we are impeding the Universe’s purpose for us – to help.
When we apply our passion – we are allowing ourselves to be an instrument. We have nothing to fear for we are following our divine purpose and we are free. Each day we can wake up and ask “Who do you need me to help today? How can I be of service?” Our job is then to be in the moment throughout the day and be open to whom we may be able to help.
Consequently, we cannot idly sit and do nothing. As Goethe says “…we must do…” What we must do is the next right action, moment by moment, hour by hour, day by day, year by year, always with the purposeful searching of how we can be of service to others through our actions.
Marianne Williamson states in her famous quote: “your playing small does not serve the world…” This is so “T”rue, for when you “play small” you deny the world that special energy that only you can deliver to it. Each and every one of us is the Universe’s messenger and the message we must deliver is in our passion!
Apply your passion!
